Annabel Knight
Annabel Knight, Head of Recorder at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, is a recorder player and historical flautist with an international career as performer, teacher, arranger, and editor. A founder of the baroque ensemble Passacaglia and member of the recorder consort Fontanella, she has toured and recorded widely, and appeared on numerous film and TV soundtracks including Harry Potter, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and Wicked. She has worked with leading early music ensembles including the English Baroque Soloists, the City Musick, I Fagiolini and The Sixteen and has produced recordings and performing editions for Schott and for Boosey & Hawkes. A passionate educator, Annabel directs the Recorder Department at RBC, teaches at Wells Cathedral School and on national recorder courses including NYRO, and for Recorders for All. She has advised on syllabuses for ABRSM and Trinity College London, regularly serves on international competition juries, and runs AK Music, publishing recorder ensemble arrangements for players of all levels. She is Vice-Chair of ERTA (UK).
