Our annual residential summer course, entry by audition. Play with other talented young recorder players in either our training orchestra or the main orchestra and additionally the full orchestra combining all players. The most advanced players will be invited to play in BlockWork, the one-to-a-part ensemble launched in 2007. All players take part in daily technique sessions and chamber music.
A qualified Matron and other house-staff will be in attendance to look after the well-being of the players. All staff have been cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau.
Age: 11 to 21 on the 1st of September 2010. Cost: £450.
Standard: NYTRO is intended for players of a good grade 5 standard and above, and ages 11 to 16: progression to NYRO is entirely dependent on annual audition, however players of exceptional skills for their age may be promoted sooner. NYRO is intended for players aged 11 to 21 of a minimum grade 8 standard - however, exam. success is not the only criterion: the audition is the main measurement for selection, and capable and experienced players without grade passes are fully encouraged to apply. BlockWork is a one-to-a-part ensemble by invitation (selection through audition). Audition details.
The concert was in the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, at 2.30pm on Saturday the 31st of July.
The fee covers musical tuition, accommodation with full board, all course activities, the loan of music and instruments in some cases, the concert, transport for course activities and membership of the Society of Recorder Players for a year. Travel costs to and from the course are not included.
Where there is financial need, grants may be available from various sources, including the SRP Walter Bergmann Fund.
